Kano Elders Blow Hot, Urge Governor Yusuf To Reinstate Sacked Emirs

Kano state - Elders from Kano South Senatorial Zone housing Rano, Gaya and Karaye, have ordered Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to immediately restore the abolished emirates and sacked emirs.
The 103 stakeholders from the three emirates called on Governor Yusuf and the state house of assembly to reinstate the sacked emirs to avoid marginalisation and stalling development and progress in the communities.

The spokesperson, Hon. Musa Salisu, stated this while addressing a press conference in Kano on Wednesday, May 29, The Nation reports.

The group consist of Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Sen. Mas’ud El-Jibrin, Hon. Musa Salihu, Dr. Ali Musa Burun-Burun, Sen. Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, Prof. Shehu Musa, Prof. Andu Salihu Kabiya and Major Gen. AT Jibrin (Rtd) among others.
“It is important to note that the new Emirates in Kano South Gaya, Rano, and Karaye evolved as separate chiefdoms with a rich historical background.”“Before their restoration and creation, the absence of tertiary healthcare and educational institutions in these Emirates had stalled human progress and development.”He added:
“The sudden removal of our respected emirs without just cause or due process is a grave injustice that must be rectified.”

As reported by Leadership, Salisu lamented the concentration of social amenities and law enforcement resources in Kano City alone.
The group argued that the abolishment of the three southern emirates was a significant setback to the progress and development of the area.

The Forum of Chiefs in Nigeria gave the order after the Federal High Court order ordered Sanusi II to vacate the palace on Tuesday, May 28. The chiefs said Sanusi II should stop trying to sneak back into the Kano Emir's palace through the back door.
